1. Who We Are

RevisionPrep is an independent IB-aligned exam preparation platform designed for students, tutors, and schools. We are not affiliated with or endorsed by the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO). Our platform provides question banks, practice editors, GDC simulators, and performance analytics for IB MYP and Diploma Programme subjects.

2. Information We Collect

We collect information in the following ways:

a) Account Information

When you register, we collect your full name and email address. If you sign up via Google, we receive your name and email from Google OAuth. We do not collect payment card details directly — payments are handled by our PCI-compliant payment processor.

b) Usage Data

We record how you interact with the platform: questions you attempt, answers submitted, time spent on topics, performance scores, and subject/criteria preferences. This data powers your personal analytics dashboard and helps us improve question quality.

c) Technical Data

We automatically collect your IP address, browser type, operating system, device identifiers, and pages visited. This helps us diagnose errors, prevent abuse, and understand aggregate usage patterns.

d) Communications

If you contact our support team or subscribe to our newsletter, we store the messages and email addresses you provide.

3. How We Use Your Information

• Provide the Service: Create and manage your account, deliver question sets, track your practice history, and display your performance analytics.
• Personalise Your Experience: Recommend topics or criteria to revise based on your performance history.
• Improve the Platform: Analyse aggregate usage trends to fix bugs, enhance question quality, and develop new features.
• Send Important Notices: Notify you about service changes, security updates, or your subscription status. You may opt out of marketing emails at any time.
• Comply with Legal Obligations: Respond to lawful requests from regulators or law enforcement where required.

4. Cookies & Tracking Technologies

We use essential cookies to keep you logged in and maintain your session. We also use analytics cookies (e.g. Vercel Analytics) to understand aggregate platform usage. We do not use third-party advertising cookies or sell your browsing data to advertisers.

You can disable cookies in your browser settings, but doing so may prevent certain features (such as persistent login) from working correctly.

5. Data Sharing & Third Parties

We never sell your personal data. We share data only in the following limited circumstances:

• Hosting & Infrastructure: Our platform runs on cloud infrastructure (e.g. Vercel, Neon, Cloudflare R2). These providers process data on our behalf under strict data-processing agreements.
• Authentication: Google OAuth is used for social sign-in. Google's Privacy Policy governs data processed during that flow.
• Analytics: We use privacy-respecting analytics tools that process only anonymised, aggregated data.
• Legal Requirements: We may disclose your data if required by applicable law, court order, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of RevisionPrep, our users, or the public.

6. Student & Minor Data

Many of our users are students, including those under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent. If you are a school or tutor providing access to students under 13, you are responsible for obtaining appropriate consent before registering those students.

Schools that subscribe on behalf of students retain control over student accounts. Student usage data is used only to provide and improve the service — it is never used for advertising or sold to third parties.

7. Data Security

We protect your data using industry-standard measures: TLS encryption in transit, encrypted storage at rest, access controls limiting who within our team can view personal data, and regular security reviews. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

If we become aware of a data breach that affects your personal information, we will notify you in accordance with applicable law.

8. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will remove your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it by law (e.g. financial records for 7 years) or where it forms part of aggregated, anonymised statistics.

9. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

• Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
• Correction — ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
• Deletion — request that we delete your personal data (subject to legal obligations).
• Portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
• Objection — object to certain processing activities (e.g. analytics).
• Withdrawal of Consent — where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw it at any time.

10. International Transfers

RevisionPrep serves users globally. Your data may be stored or processed in countries outside your own, including the United States and the European Economic Area. Where we transfer data internationally, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place (such as Standard Contractual Clauses for EU data).

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you by email or by displaying a prominent notice on the platform before the changes take effect. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
