IB Revision Platform Cost: What Families Actually Pay

The IB revision platform cost that catches families out isn't the sticker price — it's the per-subject multiplier. A platform at $249 sounds reasonable until your child takes three sciences and a maths. This is what the main platforms charge as of September 2026, and what to check before you pay for any of them.

That last row is the honest benchmark. Ten hours of tutoring — barely a term of weekly sessions in one subject — costs more than any platform on this list costs for two years. Platforms aren't competing with each other for your budget nearly as much as they're competing with the tutor.

The per-subject arithmetic nobody does upfront

Work out the cost per subject per year before you compare headline prices. It reorders the list almost every time.

Take a DP1 student doing Physics HL, Chemistry SL and Maths AA HL, buying for both years:

On a per-course model at $249 each, three courses is $747 — unless you take the complete suite at $499, which is the better move at that point.

Can they read it on a phone? That's where the revision will actually happen. Check the diagrams.

Common mistakes families make

Buying in DP2. A platform bought in March of the final year can only cram. Bought in DP1, it changes how the two years are studied. The cost per useful month is completely different.

Paying for what the school already licenses. Ask the IB coordinator what the school provides — Kognity, ManageBac, subject-specific portals. Families routinely buy notes they already have.

Choosing on subject count. 44 subjects is irrelevant if your child takes six. Depth in those six is the only thing that matters.

Assuming the most expensive is the most thorough. Price tracks marketing spend in this market at least as much as it tracks content.

Replacing a tutor with a platform when the problem is confidence, not practice. If your child understands the content and keeps losing marks, a question bank is exactly right. If they don't understand the content at all, they need a person first.
