How Is MYP Science Graded on the 1–7 Scale?

Your teacher scores four criteria — A (Knowing and Understanding), B (Inquiring and Designing), C (Processing and Evaluating), D (Reflecting on Impacts) — each out of 8, using task-specific rubrics called achievement descriptors. The four scores add up to a total out of 32, which is then converted to a final 1–7 grade using an IB grade-boundary table.

Every MYP Science unit assesses four criteria: A — Knowing and Understanding, B — Inquiring and Designing, C — Processing and Evaluating, D — Reflecting on the Impacts of Science. Each is marked out of 8 using strand-based rubrics, so a single test or lab report rarely covers all four at once.

Directly, rarely — universities admit on DP results (or predicted grades), not MYP scores. Target your weakest criterion first, not your favourite one.
